AGM REVIEW

AMG REVIEW: Music-Mosaic's contemporary world compilations consistently deliver a positive, upbeat, "one world" mix of styles. Spice Groove continues the tradition, with contributions from familiar faces - artists who've appeared on previous compilations: Solace, Ariel Kalma, Gabrielle Roth & the Mirrors, and Dago). Here the theme is multi-national world-beat grooves. This compilation doesn't cohere quite as well as some other Music-Mosaic offerings, but there are several standout tracks: "The Headpeeper" by Pili Pili, "Pan Masala" by Baul Bishwa, and "Darban Jooth Na Boley" by Solace (featuring some especially fine soulful singing). Fans of these sorts of compilations will surely be satisfied. Those exploring for the first time might want to start with a stronger thematic mix. - Jim Esch
